Megan Fair (5/20/16) – 4’00”. A simple, tonal introduction based on the chords associated with “Heart and Soul” begins the work. The idea here is that of a gentle obsession and profound love for the title character. With such a singular love in mind, a single musical idea dominates the body of the work. It is the “obsession” theme. This theme is repeated in a variety of forms and is interrupted by a secondary theme in measure thirty. The secondary theme, representing the one who loves Megan, is then integrated into the next statement of the “obsession” theme, indicating that the love is returned. A postlude using the material in the introduction ends the work.
