A Spring Thing – woodwind quintet

A Spring Thing (5/8/16) for woodwind quintet – 6’00”.  There is a delicate gentleness to this piece that suggests the earliest awakening of Spring. Several elements appear repeatedly in the score – the opening rise of the flute, descending and ascending sextuplets, groups of four eighth notes, etc. These elements combine in various ways, sometimes creating sustained melodic lines.
